Some say that the advent of sports marketing occurred when the first MLB game was televised on August 26th, 1939. It seems fitting then, just past the 71st anniversary of this monumental moment in sports business history, that we introduce a resource for the next step in the evolution of sports marketing, Online Sports Marketing.
OSM Guy was created in an effort to provide both savvy sports business professionals and those working to just get their foot in the door with cost-efficient, revenue generating activation ideas that only the Internet can provide. I will touch on all facets of online marketing within the context of the sports environment, including: email marketing, social media, web analytics, audio / visual media, paid search, QR codes, iPod / iPad applications, and any other exciting new technology that presents itself.
Here at OSM Guy, I will also never forget that sports are fun – that’s why we are all here pursuing our passion for this industry! For that reason, I will mix in some posts and perspectives that just might make you laugh.
Lastly, expect to find a wide range of posts here ranging from interviews with sports marketers, mini book reports, advice, how-tos, videos, and whatever else I think you may find inspiration in. I hope this is not a one-way conversation, and welcome your feedback via blog responses right here on this site or by connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or email.
Thanks for stopping by and talk to you soon,
