I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the first full year of the Online Sports Marketing Guy Blog and thank my family, friends, and colleagues for helping this project gain some steam very quickly. It is hard to believe it has already been a year! I have certainly learned a thing or two since the day Online Sports Marketing Guy was born and experienced some exciting successes that I am thrilled to share:
· International attention with unique visitors from 95 different countries
· Breaking coverage of Google’s First Sports Sponsorship
· The introduction of the MLB Cost Per Win Efficiency Standings which received exposure on 810 Sports radio in Kansas City, Missouri
· Mentions from the man himself, Scoops Callahan, on the What Online Sports Marketers Can Learn from Scoops Callahan piece
· An independent study on online sports marketing with a student in the DeVos Sport Business Management program
The accelerating evolution of the digital sports marketing landscape in the past year has emphasized the need for a resource to help sports marketers stay ahead of the curve in this space. To help fill this void, I intend to focus the growth of the blog on the following areas in year two:
· An increased emphasis on community with the creation of groups and exciting additions to the site to facilitate discussions between online sports marketers
· Diversifying site contributions by enlisting more guest bloggers and securing more interviews with sports executives
· Solidifying the global presence of the blog by translating key articles in select territories
· Continuation of general online marketing tool reviews with an application to sports marketing
· More competitive benchmarking with unique analyses and takes on online sports marketing trends (such as the Tweet Time Analysis of the Philadelphia Phillies)
Thank you all so much for supporting the site! Today, steak will be consumed and cake will be enjoyed. It has been a fun year, and I look forward to building on the momentum in year two.
Sincerely,
Ryan Sleeper+, Online Sports Marketing Guy
